Today Move Better Mondays episode is all about the bum muscles - the glutes.
Lets just say that you have permission to laugh at me for this one - but - try it for yourself. You may be surprised at just how difficult it can be to get the glutes to squeeze. And - if it is difficult for you to do - just practice it until it becomes easy.
Your glutes are such important movers of your hips and stabilisers of the pelvis and low back. Poor posture, pain, long periods of sitting and many other factors can often lead to a delay in the ideal pattern of recruitment of the glutes - even in really fit athletes, let alone the more average desk athletes or elderly among us. So go on, try it. (perhaps when no one is watching)
